Welcome to Grasshopper! We want to ensure that your transition from Grasshopper Connect is as smooth as possible, so we’ve migrated your call, text and voicemail history, as well as your settings, such as call forwarding. Your call experience will be exactly the same as it was in Grasshopper Connect.
With Grasshopper, you can now easily customize your account to suit your business.
All of your settings can be configured in the online portal, which you can log in to using your Grasshopper Connect username and password.
Pro Tip: In your phone’s contacts, update the contact named “Connect” to “Grasshopper.”
To help you know which kind of setup is right for you, we’ve laid out a few common customer scenarios below:

As the admin on your new Grasshopper account, you can now add or remove users on the account. This helps you manage your employees better and they can each have their own login credentials, permissions and settings.
If you’d like to add a user, log in to the Settings page and click on the Users tab.
Extensions determine how calls are routed to different individuals within your Grasshopper account.
Your account is currently set up to have the same call experience as it did in Grasshopper Connect, with simple call forwarding.
Unless you only need simple call forwarding, you can now create extensions in the online portal to dictate the behavior of your call forwarding system. Note that you can use any combination of department and employee extensions, which function the same but look a little different (department extensions are 0-6, while employee extensions are 700-799).
Each individual extension can be customized as needed:

Recorded greetings help guide customers through their calls as seamlessly as possible. Your account offers lots of different places to customize your main greeting, extension greetings, and voicemails, including away messages, call forwarding announcements and extension voicemails. If you’d like to set up greetings, you can use any of our pre-recorded options, customize them yourself, or leave it to the pros!

Make sure to download the new Grasshopper app from your mobile app store. You can log in with the same credentials you used for the Grasshopper Connect app. The grasshopper app will have a different look and feel but you will still be able to handle all your calls and texts! Pro Tip: In your phone’s contacts, update the contact named “Connect” to “Grasshopper.”
Grasshopper also has a desktop app! With the desktop app you can make and receive calls over your local area network (LAN) or WiFi network. You can even send and receive text messages, get notifications for voicemails, missed calls and more, all on your computer.

When you miss a call from a new client, Grasshopper can automatically send an SMS message letting them know you’re unavailable. Any new caller can even respond with their call-back details. Gain back time in your busy day to do your work without worrying about missed calls.
To activate Instant Response, go to the settings in your online portal and navigate to the Instant Response tab.
If you’ve completed the steps above or decided that your original call forwarding setup works for you, you are ready to take care of business. Great job!
There's more to love, though. The administration portal offers a wide variety of additional settings and features that allow you to fine tune exactly how each phone number and extension works.
