HELP FILE
You can control how incoming Grasshopper calls are announced when you answer the phone. This setting can be different for each call-forwarding phone number configured on the account.
While being forwarded to your phone, the caller is placed on hold and will hear music, a ringing tone, or a transfer greeting before you pickup (depending on your settings). You can choose between the following options for announcing calls:
Call Announce (default) |
Calls will be announced when you pick up |
- The extension you are receiving the call for is announced to you.
- You will then be prompted to Press 1 to accept the call, Press 2 to send the caller to voicemail, or Press 3 to hear the caller's phone number.
- If you don’t take the call, it either moves to the next phone number in queue or Grasshopper will accept the voicemail and send you a notification via email (depending on your settings).
|
Direct Connect |
Calls will connect to you as soon as you pick up. |
- The call is immediately connected to you without any options or announcements.
- If you don’t take the call, your callers won’t be sent back to Grasshopper to leave a message - instead they’ll go to your personal phone’s voicemail system. This is great if you want to use your cell phone voicemail or your landline message system.

Call Screening |
Callers will be asked for their name, then announced to you. |
- The caller is asked to record their name before being placed on hold.
- When you pick up, the caller's recorded name is announced to you.
- You will then be prompted to Press 1 to accept the call, Press 2 to send the caller to voicemail, or Press 3 to hear the caller's phone number.
- If you don’t take the call, Grasshopper will accept the voicemail and send you a notification via email.
