Why can't I call offshore numbers?

Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands are considered offshore numbers because they are not part of the continental U.S. In order to make calls to offshore numbers you have to enable international calling for your account. However, you can still receive calls from Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands without activating international calling.

International calling is available for any plan, but is disabled by default to avoid fraudulent and unauthorized use. Contact customer support to have international calling activated.

Before you activate international calling, be aware of the following:

    • Incoming and outgoing international/offshore calls incur extra fees per our posted international rates.
    • Accounts must be at least 60 days old to have international calling activated and 5 days old for accounts based in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
    • A deposit of $500 USD is required to activate international calling. Any charges will be deducted from the deposit until it is depleted (or you cancel your account). Learn more here.
