Make outbound calls

Make outbound calls using our apps or a landline phone.

Before you begin: To make calls using the apps, you must have an active user account and access to an extension.

Important: The Grasshopper app and system is not intended or designed for dialing 911 or any other emergency number. Please use your phone's dialer for these purposes.
Note: All outbound calls are subject to our reasonable use policy. Grasshopper reserves the right, without prior notice, to disconnect or suspend your service if we determine that your use of the service violates the reasonable use policy.

Desktop App

  1. Sign in to the desktop app.
  2. Select Dialer from the left navigation menu.
  3. Enter the phone number or extension you’d like to call.
  4. Select the call button.
Note: The desktop app doesn't work with your computer microphone or speaker, the desktop app only works with USB wired headsets.

Mobile App

Before you begin: Before you make a call, your cell phone number must be entered correctly in the app from Settings, select your name at the top of the screen, and then select My Mobile Number.

Note: For Android devices with dual SIM cards, you must select the default SIM card in the device's settings. Navigate to your device's settings and then go to Connections > SIM card Manager or SIM Manager > Preferred SIM Card or Preferred SIMs. If it says "Always ask", a default SIM card hasn't been selected. Choose the default SIM card for Grasshopper calls to connect successfully.
  1. Sign in to the mobile app.
    Tip: To use wifi calling, go to Settings > Call Settings > Wifi Calling > Enable.
  2. Select Call.
  3. Enter the phone number or extension you’d like to call.
  4. Select the call button.

Landline Phone/Calling Card

Note: Your landline phone must be registered before making a call.
  1. From the landline phone, dial (888) 989-8688.
  2. You’ll hear “phone number recognized.” When prompted, dial the phone number you’d like to call.

Subscriber Mode

Note: You must have outbound dialing (calling card) enabled on your account.
  1. Dial your Grasshopper phone number.
  2. Enter * and then dial the extension number followed by #.
  3. Enter the extension’s pin followed by #.
  4. Press 6 to make an outbound call, and then press 1.
  5. Dial the phone number you’d like to call.
