For new accounts, the available extensions are assigned automatically. Your Departments Extensions are given the numbers 0-6 in ascending order as they are created. The Employee Extensions are given the numbers 700-799.
A member of the Grasshopper support team can change the prefix for the Employee Extensions from 7 to another number if you would like. However, it is important to understand the number we use to replace the 7 will be taken from the pool of available department numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). If you already have a Department Extension using this number, you would either need to delete that extension or reach out to support to change the existing Department Extension number to an available number.
Example: If you would prefer your Employee Extensions to be in the 300 series, we would use the # 3 from the department extensions offered and you would gain a department # 7. Extension 3 would no longer be able to be used as a Department Extension. Your Department Extensions would be as follows: 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7.
